Charity Blades

Because We Can

The Tangi River Valley Bullshark

DS&S will offer a separate knife for charity auction, in rememberance of each of the military services represented in the lives lost at the Tangi River Valley.

The Tangi River Valley Bullshark Advanced Combat Knife, marking the lives and accomplishments of the Navy SEALs who died that day has been completed. Its auction on EBAY raised $3,100 to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation.

Our little family business produced this special knife ourselves, because we could.

In the coming weeks, we will produce and auction five other blades:

All six knives are being produced by us with 100-percent of the proceeds going to each of those charities

At DS&S we make gear for our special operators, and we will never forget their incredible accomplisments and valor. We sleep each night peacefully thanks to sacrifices most people will never even understand -- and often never know about. These are sacrifices, made by people who will never ask a word of thanks.

No - not just people ... legends.

A Note About the folks who are helping us in this project

Assisting us in these endeavors are the following folks:

KA-MO ENGRAVERS in Albuquerque (possibly the best diamond engraver in this galaxy) - 505-883-4963.

Waterjet Cutting Inc. of Albuquerque.

Re-New Sharpening of Rio Rancho.

Donny Bassett and the Society for the Preservation of Military History have provided the funding to produce the CQBT-B for the U.S. Army Knife.

Eddie DeLuca (our knife tester and owner of The Hit Man Mines) is providing the two White Sapphire gemstones for the handle of the Kunimitsu Art Knife we are doing for Soldiers Angels.

For those interested, our knives feature a zero-grind style at between 7.5 and 11 degrees. We do each of these completely by-hand and by-eyeball. There are no jigs at work here. Our grinder features a ten-inch wheel with a variable speed controller - and we run it at high pressures with a 70 duro contact wheel and 2 inch x 72-inch blaze ceramic belts.

We do not, however, weigh our knives. If you are worried about how much they weigh, you must be preparing to take them into space. Hope you have a good trip.

Our steels have been LaTrobe Dura Tech 20CV, ELMAX, M390, CTS-204P, Z-FINIT Nitrogen Steel, CPM-20CV and a couple in N690 and Cowry X. We are always experimenting - and always looking for new materials and treatments.

Our coatings are also specialized stuff: We use Black-T and Black Diamond DLC. Our blades are sent out to those two companies to accomplish that work, depending on the requirements of the project.

We do all our own firing and cryo work. Everything by-hand and by-heart.
