This, you can trust. DS&S - we make gear for legends.
The DS&S Bullshark - the flagship of our line. If you want the premier fighting knife in the world, this is it. The knife was developed with requirements born from actual field experience. Every detail of this knife has been carefully tuned to enhance the capabilities of the operator.
The 5.75 inch blade is combined with a 5 inch full-tang, which is covered with ported and textured G10 slabs. These slabs are self-draining, allowing a sure grip in any weather - or in transition from various environments. Fluid or condensation on the surface of the blade is forced out through a web of internal channels - and away from the hands of the operator.
The production versions of this blade, are made from M390 CPM (powder metallurgy) Super Steel. That steel is hardened in the DS&S forge at 2100 degrees before being quenched in oil and cryogenically frozen below -110 degrees. The result is a blade with amazing edge-retention, strength and extreme corrosion resistance. This space-age technology metal is then topped with a ceramic coating, ensuring good performance in situations where light discipline is necessary. The coating also enhances penetration and allows the long, tapered, modern tanto blade to penetrate cleanly through even soft body armor.
Designed by operators for operators, this is the blade you need when your occupation requires that you not only know how to use it ... but requires you to be able and willing to use it.
For those interested, our knives feature a zero-grind style at between 7.5 and 11 degrees. We do each of these completely by-hand and by-eyeball. There are no jigs at work here. Our grinder
features a ten-inch wheel with a variable speed controller - and we run it at high pressures with a 70 duro contact wheel and 2 inch x 72-inch blaze ceramic belts.
We do not, however, weigh our knives. If you are worried about how much they weigh, you must be preparing to take them into space. Hope you have a good trip.
Our steels have been LaTrobe Dura Tech 20CV, ELMAX, M390, CTS-204P, Z-FINIT Nitrogen Steel, CPM-20CV and a couple in N690 and Cowry X. We are always experimenting - and always looking for new materials and treatments.
Our coatings are also specialized stuff: We use Black-T and Black Diamond DLC. Our blades are sent out to those two companies to accomplish that work, depending on the requirements of the project.
We do all our own firing and cryo work. Everything by-hand and by-heart.
